About me and learn more

I am the author of the non-fiction Civil War book Chicago To Appomattox. Now, I use my research of the era to write historically grounded classic Western adventure novels. My stories focus on family, adventure, or exploration, and finding justice while putting characters in historically accurate settings.

When not reading or writing, I follow Chicago and University of Illinois sports, hit lousy golf shots, waterfowl hunt, seek a great meal, glass of wine, or craft beer, tour historical sites, and travel with my family. I’m also a member of the Western Writers of America and Western Fictioneers, and a Color Bearer Donor to the American Battlefield Trust.

I am a rural Illinois native and career military officer living in Northern Virginia with my wife and two young sons.
